The 2001 recipients of the Louise Jane Moses - Agnes Davis Memorial Scholarship have been announced:
Delphia Williams was awarded $1,000
Douglas Lyles was awarded $750
Marla Peppers was awarded $500
In addition, the recipients will be given honorary memberships.

Delphia Williams is a long time (16 years) staff member in the California State University, Northridge Library. She is the Continuations Manager in the Technical Services Department. She holds two Bachelors degrees, one in Liberal Studies and the other in General Sociology. Currently, she is enrolled in the San Jose State University MLS program, taking courses on the Northridge campus through San Jose's distance education program. She will be completing her first two core courses in December 2001, hoping to continue in the academic environment after earning her degree. She intends to pursue a program track that will emphasize reference services and systems design and implementation, as they relate to academic libraries.

Douglas Lyles is employed as a Research Assistant at Chromagen, a biotechnology company in San Diego, CA. He has two Associate degrees, in Microcomputer Professional and Liberal Arts. In addition, I also have a certificate in Microcomputer Professional, all from San Diego Miramar College. This pass May, he earned a Bachelors degree in Africana Studies with a Minor in History from San Diego State University. He is currently enrolled in the Library Information Science/Distance Education South (CSU Fullerton) Program at San Jose State University. Once he earns his Masters in Library Information Science (MLIS), he plans to pursue a career as an academic or K-12 librarian.

Marla E. Peppers is presently employed at the Occidental College Library as the Acquisitions Manager. Embarking on her fourteenth year as a library paraprofessional, her work experience thus far has covered a myriad of responsibilities involving reference, circulation, interlibrary loan, and collection development. Ms. Peppers has found that she enjoys public services best, affording her more intimate contact with patrons. She is currently enrolled in her first two courses of the San José State University distance education program, Fullerton campus. Upon completion of the master of library science degree program, Ms. Peppers hopes to continue employment in an academic library. She is a new member of the CLBC, the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, the ALA New Members Round Table, and the Southern California Technical Processing Group.
