On November 4, 2001, CLBC, in conjunction with the California
Library Association's African American Round Table, co-sponsored
a panel discussion at the CLA Conference entitled, California's
Library Schools: Vision of the Present and Future.
The program, moderated by Barbara Murray, City
Librarian, Oxnard Public Library, featured the directors of
California's library school programs:

their perceptions on today's job market, the impact of diversity
issues, the factors influencing student and faculty
recruitment/retention, the influence of professional
organizations, and how they foresee the future. An open question
